Biography: Diego Bocanegra joins the Fullerton Rangers for the 2009-2010 season as the coach of the GU16 and GU17 teams. Both teams will be playing in the Gold division of Coast Soccer League. Diego is currently the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Cal State Fullerton, working with Head Coach and Fullerton Rangers coach Demian Brown. Prior to making the move to Fullerton, Diego was the Head Coach at Cal State San Bernardino for the last two seasons. Diego spent the last 10 years coaching for Arsenal FC in Alta Loma. In his tenure there, he has served as the Technical Director of the girls as well as coaching several Premier Level Teams. As a player with the Alta Loma Arsenal, Diego was part of a team that won Dallas Cup, 6 Surf Cup titles, 2 State Championships and a National Title in 1992. Bocanegra is a graduate of Fresno State (1998) where he played under John Bluem. Before Fresno, he played for current Seattle Sounders coach, Sigi Schmidt at UCLA and was a CCAA All-Conference player at Grand Canyon University. Diego's younger brother, Carlos, is the current captain of the U. S. National Men's Soccer Team after enjoying an All-American career at UCLA. |
