Fullerton Rangers Staff Coach and Cal State Fullerton assistant women's soccer coach Diego Bocanegra was named the Far West Region Assistant Coach of the Year as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Bocanegra completed his fourth season on the sidelines of Titan Stadium in 2012, helping Cal State Fullerton to a 10-9-1 overall record and a 7-2 mark in Big West Conference play for the Titans' sixth league regular season crown.
"Diego is very deserving of this honor," Head Coach Demian Brown said. "His tireless work and dedication to the success our program is incredible."
Bocanegra's honor adds to a banner year for the Fullerton Rangers coaching staff as Jimmy Obleda won the Youth National Coach of the Year award last year.
"We are very happy and proud of Diego for this accomplishment," said Director of Coaching Jimmy Obleda "I couldn't think of a person more worthy of a recognition of this type. It is great to see someones handwork and commitment to excellence be recognized. The Rangers are very lucky to have him as one of us."
